ECOVACS has today launched the DEEBOT T50 OMNI with impressive features at great value at $1,299 – and we’ve been using it for the last week.

The new DEEBOT T50 OMNI is just 81mm tall and able to clean under much of your furniture and after using it this week I can concur with this.  The T50 OMNI was able to clean under a couch that many robot vacuums can’t – mostly because their LIDAR sensors protrude from the top of most robot cleaners.

The fully embedded dToF LIDAR sensor on the T50 OMNI helps vacuum map your house in a matter of minutes.  What used to take a long time to map my house (mainly because the vacuum kept getting stuck on and under various structures and obstructions) now takes me around 5 minutes with the T50 OMNI.

Once you have your map created the ECOVACS app you can merge or divide rooms, rename them, place boundaries or no-go zones and effectively customise it so you can get the clean you want.  For example, I have a very hairy rug that robot vacuum simply cannot clean and instead just picks up so many loose hairs that it overwhelms its anti-tangle technology, so I set a no-go zone over this rug every time.

The DEEBOT T50 OMNI features, according to ECOVACS, “its ZeroTangle 2.0 Anti-Tangle Technology uses a triple V-shaped structure of angled bristles, a cyclone-directed roller brush, and V-shaped comb teeth to keep hair from tangling. Positioned at a 45° angle, the bristles prevent strands from getting trapped, helping users indulge in effortless cleaning.”

This anti-tangle technology worked great but like all vacuums, it is not perfect.  The rug mentioned above caused issues for it, wrapping many hairs around it but surprisingly, the T50 OMNI was able to continue cleaning.  Once I removed that rug from the cleaning route, not a single hair was caught in the roller.  The sheer volume of loose hairs simply overwhelmed the technology – as it does for every robot vacuum I have ever used.

But how is it cleaning I hear you ask?  Well, with a strong 15,000Pa of suction power, TruEdge 2.0 Adaptive Cleaning, AI Stain Detection and OZMO Turbo 2.0 Rotating Mopping System it cleans exceptionally well.

How did I test this?  Aside from the daily clean-up of various debris the dogs bring in, I scattered breadcrumbs (including directly next to the skirting boards), smeared Vegemite, poured cordial onto the floor, and set the vacuum to it. After completing the cleaning, nearly all the stains and debris were removed.  It did struggle with the smeared Vegemite, but I really did smear it on thickly, so I’m not really surprised it didn’t cope with it.

The thorough cleaning can be explained through the DEEBOT T50 OMNI using AI Stain Detection technology to:

“….instantly recognise liquid and solid messes, activating specialised cleaning modes to tackle them head-on. Liquid spills trigger a targeted response, increasing water flow, pausing suction, and employing a systematic path for optimal cleaning. The T50 OMNI even re-checks the area, ensuring no stain is left behind.”

The T50 OMNI includes a 5,200mAh battery which was not enough to clean my entire floor in one pass, but two.  This also allowed it to return to the OMNI station to auto-empty the dustbin and clean the mops in the middle of its programmed clean.

ECOVACS states that the battery will provide 180 minutes of runtime, but that must be on the lowest cleaning settings.  I have my vacuum run while I am out at work so if it takes three hours instead of two it doesn’t matter.  For this reason, I opt for a deeper clean, which takes longer and drains more battery.

If you leave objects lying around, the DEEBOT T50 OMNI uses its AIVI 3D technology to recognise and avoid obstacles.  This uses enhanced spatial perception and AI computing power and an RGB camera with autopilot technology to identify and avoid common items it may encounter in your house.

All in all, the DEEBOT T50 OMNI from ECOVACS does a great job cleaning your floors.  While it is not the most feature-packed robot vacuum, it offers a lot more than just the basics.  It has all you need for a good clean, and it does so at a relatively affordable price.

Available from October 27th (today), the DEEBOT T50 OMNI has a recommended retail price of AUD $1,299 from Amazon and ECOVACS.com/au.
