A massive name in the TV space, it’s always been a little odd they’ve never ‘gone there’, but today they have with Sony announcing an official Playstation gaming monitor.
The Playstation Monitor includes a 27-inch, Quad High Definition (QHD) IPS display which can support resolutions up to 2560 x 1440. The panel supports High Dynamic Range support with Auto HDR Tone Mapping, and includes Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support up to 120Hz for Playstation 5 and Playstation 5 Pro consoles, as well as offering support for PC and Mac gaming up to 240Hz.
For Playstation players though, your Dual-Sense controller will always be charged, and close at hand, with a handy charging hook built-in that can flip down when needed, and disappears behind the display when not in use.
There’s a Playstation logo emblazoned on the rear, with dual HDMI (ver 2.1) inputs included to support your PC or Mac, or ‘other consoles’, as well as a built-in stereo speaker and 3.5mm audio output and a VESA mount on the rear.
At this stage, Sony has only announced availability in Japan and the US, with the monitor set to hit stores next year. Sony has rolled out their other accessories to other markets after limited launches previously, so we’ll stay tuned for more info on this one.
