At CES 2026, Ring announced new innovative features that will be making their way to Ring cameras in the near future, thanks to AI.

The new features Ring call AI Unusual Event Alert and Active Warnings are designed to help you decide what matters most and prevent incidents before they occur.

AI Unusual Event Alert identifies unusual activity around your home and notifies you when it occurs.  The new feature learns from you and your home’s everyday patterns and adapts its algorithm to determine what is unusual.

Active Warnings combines Video Descriptions with context-aware warnings to deter threats as they happen.  For example, if your camera detects an intruder who is determined to be a threat based on analysis of their location and actions, it will provide a deterrent message through the camera’s speaker, hopefully scaring them out of your house.

These new features will be rolling out to the US later this month.  At this stage, there is no word on when they will land Downunder.

One new feature that would fit perfectly without climate is Fire Watch. This is located in the ‘Neighbors’ section of the Ring app (doesn’t seem to be available here yet) and gives communities and firefighters early warnings and real-time information during a fire.

The Ring camera analyses video for visual signs of smoke or flames and, if detected, will notify the user.  

“This partnership with Ring allows us to meet people where they already are, using tools they trust, and extend life-saving wildfire intelligence to more communities than ever before,” said John Mills, Co-founder and CEO of Watch Duty. 

Now this is something that could come in very handy during the Australian Bushfire season and, although it requires a lot of infrastructure, hopefully we see it Downunder before too long.
