DJI are one of the biggest names in the drone and camera tech industry, and now they’re bringing their tech to robot vacuums, with the DJI ROMO series launching in Australia.
The new DJI ROMO range includes three brand new models, starting with the ROMO S starting at $1,599, the ROMO A at $1,899 and the flagship ROMO P priced at $2,299. DJI are blending performance with style for the ROMO series – with a combination base and robot that’s made to be displayed.
For fans of transparent 80s and 90s tech, the DJI ROMO P includes a transparent base station and robot vacuum, while the ROMO A has a transparent design for their vacuum with an enclosed white base station.
The DJI ROMO robot vacuums are low-profile, with no sensor tower on top. Instead, all three models include dual fisheye vision sensors and wide-angle dual-transmitter solid-state LiDARs for navigation and mapping – benefitting from DJI’s millimetre-level obstacle sensing technology from their drones, helping them avoid household obstacles including playing cards and charging cables just 2mm thick.
The vacuums include dual anti-tangle rollers to avoid any hair clogging up the system, with up to 25,000pa of suction power for thorough dirt removal even in long pile carpets and extendable brush and mop arms to reach under cabinets, along walls, and around furniture legs.
Different areas of your home offer the chance for additional cleaning, with the DJI ROMO series offering a specific Pet Area cleaning option to really deep clean, as well as a Kitchen mode on the ROMO P to tackle kitchen grease – with the robot cleaning the mop pads after the kitchen and bathroom to avoid cross-contamination.
The ROMO series has up to three hours of battery life on a single charge which should satisfy most homes, but also supports 55W fast charging which can get your robot vacuum fully charged and back in action in around 2.5 hours.
The ROMO P base station is designed for minimal interaction, with up to 200 days maintenance free operation. The robot returns for cleaning, with high-pressure water jets blasting the mop pads, while a large suction port immediately cleans the waste water, debris and hair straight into the dirty water tank.
The system is quiet, with none of the ‘blast’ associated with emptying the on-board dust bag into the base station thanks to a 3-stage sound suppression system which filters up to 80% of the noise.
Pre-orders for the DJI ROMO series are live today from store.dji.com/au and authorised retail partners. Shipping starts from March 5th, with devices expected to start arriving on March 9th.
