Earlier this year when Samsung announced their next generation smartphone, they also released an upgraded range of headphones – highlighted by the Buds 4 Pro. Now, a month or so on, we can share our Buds 4 Pro Review and let you know these are some slick options!
The EFTM Snapshot: Samsung’s Buds 4 Pro are a strong step up from the previous generation. Impressive and unique design that doesn’t come off as imitation, great audio performance and impressive Noise Cancelling. At $399 they’re also priced well.
In the case these are impressive from the get-go, the clear lid means you can see the headphones while they charge, allowing a glimpse of the unique flat and metal-look outer edge of the Buds 4 Pro.
It’s a simple thing but the left bud is on the left and the right but on the right – no twisting required between picking out the earbud and placing it in your ear. This is something Samsung has gotten wrong before.
In the ear they are a comfortable fit, though I do think the silicon tip seems very flimsy, as if it’s not really creating that passive seal you’d expect. Try all the size option it’s the same – not sure what that is, perhaps it’s the material.
I love the look of these headphones, utterly unique. Even though the sharper triangular design of the previous generation was unique, even in white these aren’t confused with Apple AirPods. The flat edge finished in a metal-look really pops – Samsung has nailed this one.
Press play on your music and there’s a clear and rich sound, and even a strong hint of Bass. I wouldn’t say it’s bass heavy like other brands, but it’s enough to give a better sense of that lower end.
As for the key feature of these devices today, Active Noise Cancelling, they work, and work well.
I know everyone wants to know how they compare to something like the Apple AirPods but why? No iPhone user is rushing out for the Samsung Buds, and no Samsung Galaxy Phone user is rushing out for Airpods.
Fact is, these are impressive, but they aren’t best in class, it’s utterly incremental – but you can do better, enough to take away from the stunning design and sound quality – no way. Pick these every day.
Simple fact is, like AirPods are to iPhone, the Galaxy Buds are to Galaxy S smartphones. They are your best option for simplicity, sound and customisation.
Pick the Black ones because they are a strong look, and for the ladies, that Samsung online exclusive Pink Gold is a winner.
Priced well, sounding great, these are the headphones that the Galaxy Ecosystem deserve.
AT $399 they are also cheaper than plenty of premium competitors.
