With Computex just around the corner, Acer have announced the Atlas 8 gaming handheld powered by new Intel silicon, and it’s headed for Australia later this year. 

The Acer Atlas 8 will be powered by the new Intel Arc G-Series processors. Acer will launch with the Atlas 8 in two configs, using the Intel Arc G3 or Arc G3 Extreme processor with either an Intel Arc B370 or B390 GPU. 

The GPU will use up to 24GB of shared memory, supporting ray tracing with Intel XeSS 3 AI-powered upscaling, which Intel promises will ‘deliver smooth gameplay and high-fidelity visuals’.

The handheld will include an 8-inch 1,920 x 1,200  resolution ‘IPS-level’ display with 120Hz variable refresh rate and covered in Gorilla Glass Victus. The display is capable of bumping up to 500 nits brightness so you can use it in most lighting environments. 

The system will include 1TB of on-board storage, with a microSD card slot included to expand storage. There’s also two-watt speakers which support DTS:X Ultra audio and Wi-Fi 7 & Bluetooth 5.4 for improved connectivity.

Dual Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports will ensure you can power the system as well as using video out or other features, including supporting high-speed data transfer as well as PD charging to support either a 60Wh or 80 Wh, 4S1P, 4-cell Li-ion battery.

The gaming system will use Hall-effect analog triggers with Adjustable Trigger switches – and there’s full support for Acer’s Predator Sense software, as well as Microsoft’s Windows 11 gaming experiences, which includes ‘XBOX Mode’, as well as the library of games through XBOX Game Pass – with XBOX Game Pass Premium or PC Game Pass trials included. 

While their Nitro Blaze handhelds haven’t made it down under, it looks like Acer is changing the score announcing the Atlas 8 will be available ‘in North America, EMEA, and Australia from October 2026’ and we expect pricing closer to the launch.
