Last night, Google unveiled the new Googlebook range, with devices from five different manufacturers starting the hopeful deluge of Googlebooks on the market.  

Googlebooks is being positioned as a premium laptop option for Android phone users, with ‘Googlebook OS’ built on the Android technology stack and building on the ChromeOS desktop experience. They’re also designed with Gemini Intelligence to bring features like Rambler, Google’s improved voice-to-text feature, and more. The platform will receive long-life support, with Google saying each device will receive regular feature drops and updates for Googlebook OS for up to 10 years from launch.

Asus is the first to show off its Googlebook with the ASUS Googlebook 14 launching today.  The ASUS Googlebook 14 is an ultraportable 14-inch laptop designed for Gemini Intelligence.  Google and Asus have designed these devices and the software to deliver a more connected experience with their Android phone.

The ASUS Googlebook 14 weighs just 0.99kg and features a sturdy Nano Ceramic magnesium-aluminium chassis to resist scratches, yet it’s still only 10.9 mm thick.  In fact, the Googlebook from Asus has been tested to comply with US military-grade MIL-STD 810H standard and ASUS Superior Durability standards.  

The first Googlebook from Asus runs on the Intel Core Series 3 chipset, configurable up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 3 processor, up to 16GB of LPDDR5X memory, and up to a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD.  

The Googlebook 14 will provide a full day of use with the 70Wh battery designed to deliver up to 18 hours of battery life.

The display is a vibrant 14-inch 3K OLED touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate for sharp detail, deep contrast, and up to 1000 nits HDR peak brightness.  Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with Corning Gorilla Matte anti-glare technology helps protect the display and your eyes.

The audio system includes a six-speaker setup with dual force-cancelling woofers and two tweeters for immersive audio.

The large haptic touchpad includes six-point force sensing for consistent click pressure, while the keyboard is backlit with 1.5mm of key travel for comfortable typing.

The Asus Googlebook 14 comes with 12 months of Google AI Pro, giving users access to Gemini features such as Gemini Notebook and Flow, plus Magic Pointer to point to and select on-screen objects to ask, compare, or create with Gemini.  5TB of cloud storage is also included with the 12-month subscription.

The Googlebook 14 includes two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C full-function ports that support Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5mm audio combo jack, 

Asus Googlebook 14 will be available in Australia from Monday 5 October 2026 at JB Hi-Fi in-store and online.
