Canon has today unveiled the EOS R8 Mark II, a full-frame mirrorless camera in a compact design with advanced stabilisation to inspire confidence in the photographer.

The new EOS R8 Mark II is designed to be used anywhere, inspiring creation at any time or place and is ideal for travel photography.

A 24.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor combined with a DIGIC X processor powers the capture, delivering clarity, rich colour and a strong dynamic range.  The In-Body Stabiliser (IBIS) provides 7.5 stops of stability making it ideal for shooting in low light, in motion and more without any compromise.

The EOS R8 Mark II also includes Register People Priority to bring precision to photography of people you have registered in the camera or on the memory card beforehand.  The camera recognises the saved faces when taking a photo, focusing on them to keep them sharp when in frame.

With a capability of shooting at 40fps and an expanded buffer, the EOS R8 Mark II is ideal for capturing fast-paced action.  Other features include pre-continuous shooting in H+ mode, auto-focus in light levels as low as EV -7.5, and deep learning subject detection with eye, face, head and body tracking.

The camera can be paired with the lightweight Canon RF lenses “from the all-purpose RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM and ultra-fast RF 45mm F1.2 STM prime to the compact RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM telephoto zoom for wildlife and distant subjects.

The design of the EOS R8 Mark II is upgraded from the first generation with a new multi-controller, making it easier to capture quick, hand-held moments.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi (2.4GHz / 5GHz) and Bluetooth 5.3 for fast and reliable wireless transfer of your captured images and video.  A high-speed USB-C port provides up to 10Gbps data transfer and fast charging.

Also new today is the Speedlite EL-5 Ver.2, an updated wireless flash extending off-camera transmission range up to 50 metres (up from 30m on the original EL-5) to offer more flexibility in larger outdoor locations and venues.
