When I was invited by Apple to attend their “Pro and tell” event in Los Angeles last week I was expecting the much rumoured touchscreen MacBook Pro, and we got that. But rather than setup demonstrations of how the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display was used, Apple snuck it into a range of creative demonstrations and they perhaps had more impact than any simple product demonstration.
I saw musicians creating music with Logic Pro, they just happened to be tapping the keyboard on the screen as part of the process.
There was a fashion house using a 3D printer to push the boundaries of material design, but their tech savvy worker also made a 3D modelling software tool that also happened to work well with touch not just the power of the pointer.
Then there was Jeremy Cowart. Jeremy is a a Nashville portrait and celebrity photographer – and boy was he excited when he met me, I mean – Celebrity Photographer’s dream come true! Ha, no, he was far more enamored with Marquez Brownlee who stood in this makeshift studio just before me.
But regardless of my W-List status, I stood up for my chance at a photo.
The setup looked like any professional photo studio. Strong specifically placed lighting, a backlight, keylight and an artistic backdrop.
The difference was, Jeremy took what seemed like one photo. In One second. But in that one second the lights flashed and strobed in a range of colours and directions. Leaving Jeremy’s MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR processing just six photos.
Here they are:

Dude, I’d take any one of them as a “new profile pic”.
But here’s where the secondary art comes in – because photography itself is an art, one that I certainly appreciate, knowing how hard it is!
Jeremy has created this interactive tool you can slide your mouse (or finger on a touchscreen PC) side to side and up and down to experience a different lighting effect as you choose.
Note, this may not be great on mobile given I’ve embedded it here in a page, so on a computer is best!
But Jeremy Cowart also created his own software, vibe coding in just a few days before the event to allow him to create artistic outputs from his one second photo shoot in a range of stunning styles

Now look, I don’t expect to be on the walls of a gallery any time soon, but the appreciation I have here for this work is that every single one of these images is “real”. They are not AI generated, they are not photoshopped.
They are a mix and merger of just one second of photography.
Oh, and if you really wanna blow your mind, he’s also created 3D Augmented reality artworks using these same images! I’ll film those and post on my Instagram
Now look, art is subjective, but what a stunning look into the mind of one man – Jeremy Cowart – and the power of computers today, without CREATING images using AI but with a little help from AI to vibe code some software to bring his vision to life.
