When it comes to big crowds, they don’t come too much bigger than the last week at Accor Stadium in Sydney – the Olympic Stadium hosted the Matildas and the first State of Origin with massive crowds, and today Optus revealed just how much data their customers chewed through on those days
With crowds of 76,798 for the Matildas and just a few hundred more for Origin (77,214) you can imagine just how much data was consumed as people texted, uploaded videos and shared their experience at both events.
For the Matildas 29.6% of the crowd were at peak connected to the Optus Network, while for Origin it was 30.7%.
if you take the 650,082 Mb of data uploaded at the Matildas game that would be the equivalent of 162,521 photos being shared. At Origin that number was 220,217 photos with 880,867Mb of data used.
No holding back on the downloads either, by scrolling through socials or receiving photos, Matildas fans on Optus used 1,766,279Mb of data while Origin fans on Optus cracked the 2 million megabyte mark.
Impressive stuff from just one network.
