It was at the start of this year when Samsung teased this all-new product the “Galaxy Ring”. Today in Paris that product becomes a reality announcing it’s specifications and features but leaving Aussie’s just a little in the lurch as to when we’ll be able to buy one.
This is a device designed for 24/7 Wellness monitoring – something a watch simply doesn’t do with many people not keen to wear one at night, and the need to almost daily charge them.
The ring comes in three different finishes – Titanium Black, Titanium Silver and Titanium Gold
But here’s the thing, they aren’t chunky. They aren’t heavy, they feel – amazingly light given what they are.
Just 2.3 to 3 grams depending on the size you choose and the finish. Remarkable.
They have a band width of 7mm, and are just 2.6m thick.
Inside are sensors to help track your heart rate, activity and even cycle.
And the battery life is a fantastic seven days! The Ring comes in a small translucent box which keeps it secure when charging. The box itself has a battery in it so you can charge without fuss when travelling, and the box itself is then wirelessly recharged.
Made from a Grade 5 Titanium, with an IP68 rating I think we have to respect what Samsung has created here as a health tracker.
As someone very much not keen to wear a watch to bed, sleep tracking has been an “off body” experience. I think that’s the exact market this Ring targets.
Plus, paired with your Samsung phone, you can us a double tap or pinch gesture to dismiss your alarm or even control your camera shutter remotely.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is coming to Australia. When is the only question. While I think some at Samsung Australia are keen to see it on-sale this year, a hesitancy exists and they are unable to commit to that timeframe, nonetheless – the Galaxy Ring is coming, it’s just a matter of when, and for how much.
