If you own an EV the best thing you can do is install a charger at home so you can treat your car like your phone and simply charge it overnight every day or every other day. One thing that stops this from happening is the high price of at-home chargers – that changes this week as EVSwitch launches their online orders for a $499 charger.
Being distributed here in Australia by the same people that brought BYD to Australia, the plan is to simply make home charging more affordable. Available online, it will cost you $25 to have it shipped, and you’ll also need a licensed electrician to install it.
The company aims to deliver 100,000 chargers in Australia by 2027 and with EV sales growing that’s a very achievable target.

Speaking as someone who researched this area, I spent three times this amount on my charger, and one of the most popular chargers is the Tesla Wall Connector which costs $800.
But this isn’t a “dumb” charger either – it’s got all the features you’d want. Like Scheduled Charging, Output limitations and an App to monitor and control it.
It comes with a 7 meter fixed cable and can be installed indoors or outdoors.
