With every new Apple iPhone launch there’s always a bit of analysis after the fact to work out how it impacts their overall offering. They can’t keep selling every phone forever, so with the introduction of the iPhone 16e today, what other iPhones is Apple still selling direct fresh and new.

Until 3am this morning, Apple’s website was selling the four iPhone 16 models, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus and the iPhone SE 3rd Generation. As of the launch of the iPhone 16e the old SE and the iPhone 14 models are gone and it will be up to third party retail channels to move the existing stock.

So what’s left and what’s new? Well, with the iPhone 16e now the lowest priced iPhone Apple sells, it’s a pretty consistent lineup from 16e right up to the 16 Pro Max.

Here’s the full iPhone lineup as Apple sees it, plus some cheeky pricing from retail on some now discontinued models:

Base PriceScreen SizeChip/ProcessorInfo
iPhone 16e (128GB)$9996.1A18Apple Intelligence, Single Camera, no MagSafe

iPhone 16 (128GB)$13996.1A18Apple Intelligence, Dual Camera
iPhone 16 Plus (128GB)$15996.7A18Apple Intelligence, Dual Camera
iPhone 16 Pro$17996.3A18 ProTriple Camera, AI, Faster Chip
iPhone 16 Pro Max (256GB)$21496.9A18 ProTriple Camera, AI, Faster Chip
Available at 3rd Party (JB HiFi)
iPhone 14 (128GB)$9676.1A15No AI, Notch not Dynamic Island
iPhone 13 (128GB)$7876.1A15No AI, Notch not Dynamic Island
iPhone SE (3rd Gen) (64GB)$7074.7A15Home Button, Small Screen

For me, the iPhone 15 is a standout challenge there. No Apple Intelligence, sure it has a dual camera and MagSafe, but how big a deal is that?

Some decent value in retail on the iPhone 13, but bang for your buck, the iPhone 16e is a really compelling offer, despite the $999 price tag which is far beyond the previous “SE” models.
