Last year, we were extremely impressed with the Nothing phone. The Nothing 2a made the cut for our end-of-year rewards and won the Best Smartphone Under $700 category.

Now, the Nothing 3a will be released in just a couple of weeks and looks set to pick up where its predecessor left off. To build excitement for the next smartphone from the London-based tech company, a few of the specs for the upcoming Nothing 3a were released.

The camera is set to receive an upgrade, including a 50MP periscope lens that offers 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom, and 60x ultra zoom. This new periscope lens, combined with AI clarity-enhancing algorithms, will significantly improve the smartphone’s imaging capabilities.

This new periscope lens is combined with the new 50MP main sensor which now captures 64% more light than the Nothing 2a, enabling more depth and clarity.

Nothing’s new TrueLens Engine 3.0 uses elite hardware to produce professional-grade photography with true-to-life colours, thanks in part to its AI tone mapping. The TrueLens Engine 3.0 analyses each image captured and strikes a balance between classic photography and computational technology, preventing the “over-processed” photos that are all too common in this AI era.

All four sensors in the rear camera setup support Ultra HDR photo output with the phone, and the front and rear cameras support 4 K video capture.

The Nothing 3a will be announced on 4 March at 9 pm AEDT. That evening, EFTM will provide all the local availability and pricing details for what is likely to be an amazing value-for-money smartphone.
