If there is a tried and true way to test the endurance and performance of a vehicle, it is hard to go past exposing them to the harsh environment of outback Western Australia.
That is precisely where a fleet of JAC T9 EV Dual Cab 4X4 utes are about to be put through the toughest of tests.
JAC Motors has announced a strategic partnership with mining services provider Warrikal to embark on a 6 month trial in real-world conditions to evaluate the JAC T9 EV as a practical and reliable option for day in, day out operations in the mining sector. Reliability and performance is crucial in the mining industry, particularly in remote parts of the country where this trial will be conducted.
“We’re excited to partner with Warrikal to demonstrate how JAC’s electric vehicle technology can meet the rigorous demands of Australia’s mining sector,” said Ahmed Mahmoud, Managing Director of JAC Motors Australia.
The JAC T9 EV is based on the T9 dual cab platform which was recently recognised as Australia’s safest ute by industry safety body ANCAP.
The evolution of the T9 series to an electric drivetrain, with its unique torque capabilities, should offer advantages over traditional vehicles.
It will be interesting to see what challenges arise using a full EV alternative.
The aim of the trial is for Warrikal to evaluate the JAC T9 EV’s
- Operational performance in mining environments
- Battery performance and charging logistics
- Total cost of ownership compared to traditional diesel equivalents
- Emissions reduction potential
- Integration with existing Warrikal fleet management systems
The trial has just commenced and runs for a total of 6 months. No doubt other mining operators and indeed other industries will be following the trial closely and will be very interested in the results.
