Audio maker Sennheiser has unveiled their latest innovation, the RS 275 TV Headphones with Auracast broadcast audio, with transmitter, offering a practical solution to introduce low-latency Auracast audio to your home.

If you’ve ever tried to pair a set of headphones to a TV, the process is ok, however issues with latency and sync occur, as well as the issue of only being able to stream to one device. This is where Auracast comes in. 

Introduced in the Bluetooth 5.2 specification back in 2024, Auracast provides a Low Energy (LE) option for broadcasting audio to multiple sources using what’s called a Public Broadcast Profile – letting you simply broadcast audio to multiple Auracast compatible devices including headphones, earbuds, hearing aids, and loudspeakers without pairing. 

The ultralight Sennheiser HDR 275 TV wireless headphones include the compact BTA1 digital transmitter hub with Optical, 3.5mm, and HDMI ARC inputs – which supports the Auracast broadcast technology, letting you broadcast in ultra-low latency up to 50 metres to compatible devices, in perfect sync. 

The headphones aren’t just for TV, they support your normal everyday Bluetooth, including multi-point audio for connecting to two devices – great for listening to audio on your laptop, and switching to your phone when a call comes in.

The headphones come with tuning from Sennheiser’s in-house acoustics team, with the profile offering tuning for ‘vocal intelligibility and engaging bass response’ but without the overwhelming volume – though the headphones themselves are capable of delivering up to 106 dB of volume, with big cushioned earcups so you can keep them on for hours.

The wireless headphones can last up to 50 hours on a single charge, with USB-C charging to get you topped up quickly – and you can even replace the battery (and padded ear cups) so your headphones can last longer than your TV.

You can enjoy the default audio profile, or use the free Smart Control Plus app – available for Android and iOS – to personalise your experience with options to switch to transparency mode, change left-right balance, switch hearing profiles, configure device-type audio modes, find a lost headphone and more.
