Mobile World Congress is a great way to see what’s coming, and Lenovo have unveiled a glimpse into what we could see in laptops, gaming and AI Assistant hardware in the coming years. 

ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept

What if your laptop could grow with you? That’s a concept being explored by a number of companies like Framework, but Lenovo is also investigating the concept with an ultrathin, dual-display, modular 14″ Thinkbook.

The ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept uses the Lenovo ‘Magic Bay’ system which they launched using an expanded POGO pin connector, and can carry a large amount of data and more. 

The concept will allow you to use interchangeable display configurations, as well as switch between detachable input components and modular I/O elements, as well as attach a secondary display in multiple orientations to really extend your workspace. 

Yoga Book Pro 3D Concept

While 3D as a medium for movies and gaming has been hampered by the need for glasses, companies like Lenovo continue to press forward with a 3D image on screen without them – and so we get the Yoga Book Pro 3D Concept.

This concept 3D display laptop is the worlds first dual-display laptop featuring a glasses-free 3D experience – though the 3D experience is only on the top display. 

Powered by the Intel Core Ultra processors there’s plenty of grunt to work, with the laptop designed for interaction with things like transforming 2D images into 3D Models, as well as manipulating the models in real-time, allowing you to adjust things including lighting, angles and more. 

Legion Go Fold Concept

We’ve seen the Legion Go handhelds being iterated on with the Legion Go S running Steam OS, or the more recent Legion Go 2 launching with a large 8.8-inch Full HD+ (1920 x 1200) OLED display – but what if it could be bigger! Enter the Legion Go Fold Concept.

The foldable gaming handheld concept starts off with a 7.7″ display which can expand to a stunning 11.6″ screen. 

Lenovo has changed up the design of the controllers for a more traditional look, which also makes for a more comfortable grip – while still retaining the Legion Go ‘trick’ of having removable controllers. 

The folding display and removable controllers would allow for multiple form-factors for gaming and more – giving you the freedom of combining gaming and productivity in one device.

Lenovo AI – Qira and Companion Concepts

Lenovo is also launching their own AI assistant – called Lenovo Qira, as well as exploring various form factors to house AI, with devices for your desk as well as for you which can follow you around and perceive more about your daily life.

Qira

Built into, and working across Motorola and Lenovo Devices, Lenovo Qira is what Lenovo are calling a Personal Ambient Intelligence which works at a system level rather than a stand alone app. 

Qira will work on supported PCs, tablets, smartphones, and wearables, helping maintain continuity across devices and tasks to help complete tasks. 

Lenovo will be keeping Qira updated, or ‘evolved’ and launching new partnerships and experiences over time. This includes more languages, and availability across more devices – with Qira set to debut in the coming weeks. 

Lenovo AI Perceptive Companion

Creepy or cool? That’s the line you have to think about when pinning this bad boy to your person. 

The Lenovo AI Perceptive Companion is a wearable that works with Motorola and Lenovo devices, and powered by Quira AI.

It includes a range of sensors which will let you prompt it to start logging everything, letting it see what you see, hear what you hear, and listen to what you say – all while providing personalised recommendations and insights in real-time.

It’s a fairly compact looking device, reminiscent of the Humane AI pin which came and went without making too much of a splash, so it will be interesting to see where Lenovo takes this one.

Lenovo AI Workmate Concept 

This desk companion is just cute as hell – though infused with AI, so it’s also ready to help when you need it.

Featuring a spherical head with an embedded display on an articulated arm, the Lenovo AI Workmate Concept looks cute, with cartoon eyes on the display – which also includes enough sensors to support multimodal input capture, spatially aware sensors, and on-device AI processing,

It works across devices, letting you keep your work on track no matter where you are. 

Lenovo AI Work Companion Concept

The Lenovo AI Work Companion is described as ‘ your ultimate productivity partner’. 

The desktop acts as a high-speed charging hub connected to your PC via USB-C hub, offering a range of ports including USB Type A, USB Type-C, Display Port out and of course an ethernet jack. 

The front displays the AI companion which can include ‘playful interactions and emotional support’ according to Lenovo.
