The hotly anticipated Steam Machine announced last year still hasn’t received a price or release date, but you’ll be able to lay your hands on the new Steam Controller from next month.

The new Steam Controller will be available to purchase through Steam for $149 AUD from May 4th.

You won’t need the Steam Machine to use the Steam Controller, with support for PC, Mac and even mobile phones supporting the controller.

The Steam Controller is packed with features including full-sized TMR (Tunneling Magnetoresistance) thumbsticks which will increase accuracy, as well as eliminating stick drift.  There’s also dual touchpads below the thumbsticks, four rear buttons and gyroscopic controls.

Valve has also promised ‘immersive, accurate haptics’ on the Steam Controller using four haptic motors to provide ‘high-definition rumble’.

The controller includes an 8.39Wh rechargeable Li-Ion battery which nets you up to 35 hours of play on a single charge, with charging through USB-C. There’s also a puck you can leave attached to your charger that you can connect your Steam Controller with POGO pins.

If you want to get your hands on the Steam Controller, it will go on-sale through Steam from 10am Pacific Time on May 4th.
