Aqara has announced the Australian availability of its new continuous, always-on video doorbell, the Aqara 2K Doorbell Camera G400 (Wired/PoE), impressively priced at under $200.

The G400 features 2K video with a 165-degree ultra-wide lens to give users a full view of their doorstep, including any packages left on the ground.

It will process motion and person detection on the device itself, ensuring continuous security even without Internet connectivity.  The app allows users to set up custom detection zones to further tailor their doorbell security.

Designed for uninterrupted video, the new video doorbell can be powered via PoE with a single Ethernet cable or an existing 8-24V doorbell wiring, paired with dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (2.4GHz and 5GHz).  Also included in the box is a wireless chime.

Aqara offers a cloud service called HomeGuardian with advanced AI capabilities for more detailed face, package, car, and animal recognition.  Search is also aided by AI, allowing you to quickly find footage in large volumes of captured video.

With support for Apple Home (including HomeKit Secure Video), Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings, the G400 offers true cross-platform connectivity.  It is also compatible with network video recorders, allowing true flexibility in how you want to use the video doorbell.

Onboard storage via a microSD card (up to 512GB) and automatic backup to a NAS server allow users to store all their footage without ongoing subscriptions.  HomeGuardian offers up to 90 days of cloud storage though, if that is your preference.

The G400 will withstand the extremes of Australian weather with an IP65 waterproof rating

The Aqara 2K Doorbell Camera G400 (Wired/PoE) is available now exclusively through the Aqara Australia online store at an RRP of $199.  Consumers can take advantage of Aqara’s special launch offer, priced at $149, if purchased between the 11th and 25th of May.
