Ferrari are calling it their “next-generation sports car” and without question it draws a line in the sand between their traditional business and the future EV range, but the Ferrari Luce isn’t replacing any existing Ferrari, it’s part of growing the brand into the future.

This really is something different – like we’ve not seen from Ferrari, expected really when you turn to Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson instead of a traditional car designing firm.

Powered by four electric engines – one on each wheel the Ferrai Luce will go 0-100 in 2.5 seconds, making it worthy of that Prancing Horse logo for sure.

And it will stand out when parked to, as rear seat passengers enter and exit via the rear-hinged “suicide doors”.

The stark design sets it apart from the current Ferrari range, as well as almost every other traditional car on the road, and captures that “futuristic” styling we see in EVs but in a very Sir Jony Ive way.

Inside, I see a hark back to classic cars with the seat design and stitching seemingly taking you back to a simpler time, while the cockpit and technology is strong but not overwhelming.

This will be a polarising car, for Ferrari fans and rev-heads, but what you need to appreciate is that this is not an attack on the traditional Ferrari, this is a car company moving with the times, ensuring the future is part of their portfolio.

In fact, the Luce looks like the perfect “second” Ferrari, the daily driver perhaps?
