After the successful launch of the first two SCREENX sites in Melbourne and Sydney, Hoyts have announced a major expansion across Australia and New Zealand with 12 more sites set to go live.
Starting with Broadway in Sydney, more Aussies will be able to experience the unique offering Hoyts can give with huge screens and unbelievable sound.
The SCREENX cinemas feature a screen that extends beyond the traditional front of the theatre, instead extending to both left and right walls to give a 270° panoramic presentation.
The new Broadway cinema will showcase the release of Marvel’s latest blockbuster, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This is the first Hollywood movie “Shot for SCREENX” featuring a collaboration that brings SCREENX into the filmmaking process from production through to theatrical exhibition. End to end this movie was made to be shown in these new, immersive cinemas.
No home theatre could come close to replicating what the filmmakers envisaged then delivered.

Jun Bang, CEO of CJ 4DPLEX, said “The future of cinema lies in delivering experiences that audiences simply cannot enjoy anywhere else. SCREENX transforms storytelling by surrounding moviegoers with a 270-degree cinematic canvas, and our new ‘Shot for SCREENX’ initiative takes that immersion even further by enabling filmmakers to create movies specifically for the format from the very beginning,”

The new Broadway cinema will open on 30 July with the 14 SCREENX sites fully operational by 2028 with more details on locations to come.
