The finger-sized gadget uses a sensitive 3D motion tracker to record your steps, the distance you travel each day on foot, the number of stairs you climb, and even how well you sleep at night. It wirelessly sends this information to your computer when you get home, so you can analyse trends and information to try and improve your general fitness activity.
On top of the step tracker, Fitbit will also launch the Aria smart scale in Australia from July 1, which measures weight, body fat percentage and BMI for up to eight different people.
Backing it all up are the iOS and Android apps, which allow you to track food intake, exercise and weight wherever you are, while the Fitbit.com portal offers extensive analysis of your overall fitness trends.
The FitBit Ultra step tracker will sell for $120, while the Aria scales will cost $149. Both will be available from July 1 at Harvey Norman stores around the country.
Price: $120
