When you have a brand and reputation like Jack Daniel’s you don’t normally mess with the secret recipe that makes your product what it is. However, for the first time since prohibition the Jack Daniel Distillery has switched up their grain combination to introduce a unique new blend and it’s available now in Australia in extremely limited quantities.
Drawing on flavour from premium rye, the limited edition Jack Daniel’s Unaged Tennessee Rye has a spicy and somewhat sweet flavour which might just be what a true whiskey lover will enjoy.
The grain bill for this mix is 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% barley malt, once mashed it’s “fermented, distilled & charcoal-mellowed” like all Jack Daniel’s blends. Normally rye isn’t the “lead grain” in a Jack Daniel’s blend so the change for this small batch will be noticed by JD drinkers.
You might want to sit down for this… Jack Daniel’s Unaged Tennessee Rye is available now with an RRP of $130.00! That’s nearly three times the price of a normal bottle of Jack Daniel’s.
If you want a taste without shelling out for your own bottle, the small release is also available at these selected establishments:
