Firstly, this article stemmed from some widespread excitement online about an Aldi Wine Advent Calendar. This story flew through Australian media and across social media, any journalist who actually paid attention to the detail would have seen it was a product being sold in Aldi LONDON. Not Australia. While we would love to see an Advent Calendar full of wine, this isn’t confirmed for Australia. So, for now, we’ve compiled a list of five wines you could drink before Christmas and be very satisfied.

When it comes to wine, Aldi has a decent selection without being overwhelmed with choice. Many of their beverages won’t be found in other liquor stores and have been sourced for Aldi directly. This allows strong pricing offers and may make it look “cheap” to the buyer, it does not mean poor quality but just good value. Also, we do recommend buying wine in larger quantities than one bottle. The reason being that you can drink one immediately but we encourage cellaring the wine to let it develop and change even further, age could make a bottle of wine improve in flavour and complexity, follow the recommendations on the label and below.
