Rev-heads rejoice, we’ve got a big week coming up and a great year for Motorsports on Fox Sports as for the first time the Australian Formula One Grand Prix is available 100% ad-free this weekend.
Two years ago when Fox Sports did a deal with Network Ten to broadcast the F1 across the season fans were excited, but then a little more than let down and more than a little vocal about the “picture in picture” advertising that appeared during the race.
When Ten went to an ad break, Fox Sports showed those ads in a small box in the corner of the screen, while the F1 race continued in the top left corner. Great stuff so you never miss a thing, but no commentary and still a bit disappointing.
No more! During this weekend’s Melbourne race the channel will show full uninterrupted race-action with commentary.
Head of TV at Fox Sports Steve Crawley said “In 2018, we’ll deliver motorsport fans what they want – ad break free coverage of the Melbourne Grand Prix qualifying and race for the first time. This means that every race on the Formula 1 calendar is now ad break free for Foxtel viewers.
“After the season opener in Melbourne, FOX SPORTS will be the only place to watch every race from practice through to the main race live. If you love F1, FOX SPORTS is the place to be.”
Channel 506 kicks off tomorrow as a dedicated Grand Prix channel with action and classic races all week, and every F1 session live from Thursday.
