Aussie race ace Ryan Briscoe returns home this month to cut some laps around the legendary Mount Panorama circuit. He won’t be a co-driver in the 1000, instead he’s showing off his own race car – the Ford GT.

Beecroft boy Briscoe is now based stateside with his family as a full time driver for the Ganassi endurance race team, but there’s no doubt he’ll be pumped to get the chance to showcase his baby in front of a very big crowd at the mountain.

Ford vs Holden may be the standard, but even a solid Holden fan will see the beauty of the Ford GT.  I was lucky enough to drive the Ford GT in Salt Lake City at launch, only Briscoe stood between me and the title of first Aussie to drive the car:) . I’ll take that.

I got some laps behind the wheel and in the passenger seat with Briscoe driving in the road car at the same time, but nothing would compare to the race version of the GT.

This is no straight exhibition too – Ford has a lot to prove.  They are in the middle of building their next generation Supercar for the national series – to be based on the Mustang – and this GT will be the most impressive and most capable Ford ever to hit the mountain.
