The announcement from Samsung at CES that their 2019 and some 2018 TVs would support Apple Airplay 2 and also have an Apple TV app was a shock to everyone – and that shock is now realised through a software update making these features available right now.

On selected 2019 and 2018 models (Exact model names below) you can now do a firmware update and you’ll find the Apple TV app available on your Samsung TV.
The user Interface is very much as per the usage of the actual Apple TV box, with sign in available via your Apple Device or on-screen.

Won-Jin Lee, Executive Vice President, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics says “For the last decade, Samsung has been at the forefront of offering the broadest selection of content available to consumers on our Smart TV platform.”
“As the first TV manufacturer to integrate the Apple TV app on a Smart TV platform, Samsung continues to offer our customers incredible value and access to the Apple TV app experience on the largest screens available today.”

If you’ve got a compatible TV, to get the update (if it hasn’t already been updated), simply follow these steps:
- Go to Settings
- Click Support
- Click Software Update
- Click Update Now.
