If you think back to all the monitors you’ve had on your desk over the years – it hasn’t been since the shift from big bulky CRT monitors to thin flat monitors that we’ve recovered desk space for our own work.
Today, the average monitor sits on a stand, and in total probably takes up about 20-30cm depth space on your desk.
At CES this year Samsung announced something rather different – the Samsung Space Monitor, today, that goes on Sale in Australia.
It’s innovative – flat screen for sure, but rather than mounting it on the wall to clear up your desk, the mount for this monitor clamps onto your desk at the back – leaving the monitor sitting straight upright at the back of your desk.
The mounting mechanism also allows for a movement of the upright mount forward, while the screen itself can pivot on that upright.
This gives a pretty decent freedom of movement for the screen to suit your needs.
There is no twist – though I doubt that’s going to impact many users at all.
“Space introduces an elegant new form factor, starting a brand new category for monitors,” said Phil Gaut, new Director of Display and Memory Solutions, Samsung Australia – a man with 20 years experience in the Monitor industry having come to Australia from Samsung in the UK.
“With its unique arm design freeing up desk real estate previously occupied by monitor stands, Space gives Australians the minimalist style and flexibility to get their work done.”
It’s available in two sizes – a 32 inch 4K UHD model, and a 27 inch Quad HD model.
“Many Australians are looking to adopt a tidier, more streamlined approach to work and their desk space, and the Samsung Space is a new option for workplaces to consider. It may even help Aussies to spark a little more joy at the office,” said Gaut.
It also comes with a nifty clutter-free cable management approach in the back.
The Samsung Space comes with a price tag of $999.00 for the 32-inch and $799.00 for the 27-inch.
