While the focus is on the flagship Mate 30 launch later this month, Huawei is forging ahead and has announced a new mid-range phone, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019.

While the phone is classed as a mid-ranger, the design is anything but. Huawei has included a large, notchless 6.59-inch display which takes up nearly the entire front of the display giving users a truly immersive experience.

The notchless display is thanks to the inclusion of a motorised 16MP pop-up selfie camera, which Huawei says can emerge or retract in under a second. Huawei also says the phone can detects falls and automatically close the camera before it’s damaged.

Huawei has also included a triple camera array on the rear of the phone, with a 16MP sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 2MP depth sensing camera for Bokeh effects.

The phone is powered by the Kirrin 710F processor, and comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A massive 4,000mAh battery should keep eeven the most power hungry users happy all day.

The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 will run Android 9 (Pie) with Huawei’s custom EMUI skin over the top.

If the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 looks and sounds like it could be your next phone you can get your hands on one for $399 in Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue colour options from JB Hifi. You can also check it out further on the Huawei Australia website.
