The Samsung Galaxy Fold will arrive in Australia on October 30th

After an extended delay, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold phone will finally launch in Australia on October 30th.

The phone will cost $2,999 and will be available across all Australian operators. Samsung is keen to show the Galaxy Fold off, with the plan to have devices set up in stores across Australia where you’ll be able to check them out in person. Samsung will release a list of stores showing off the new phone on the Samsung Australia website on October 30th.

Samsung re-launched the phone last month with refinements to both the display, and the casing that lines up the foldable display after issues arose during the initial review phase. Early reports out of the US now indicate that these problems have now been resolved.

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold offers the promise of a versatile new usage paradigm for users, with a 4.6-inch ‘cover display’ which can be opened up to a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Display, allowing users to ‘explore new ways to multitask, watch videos, play games, and more’.

Though Android 10 now supports ‘foldables’ like the Galaxy Fold, Samsung will release the phone with Android 9 (Pie). Samsung has instead implemented their own solutions introducing App Continuity and Multi-Active Window, allowing you to open the larger display and have up to three apps at a time automatically expand onto the larger canvas.

To enable the app switching and a smooth user experience, Samsung has included a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and a massive 12GB of RAM in the Galaxy Fold. You also get 512GB of internal storage.

The Galaxy Fold will come with six cameras on-board, including a single 10MP selfie cam above the cover display, while a dual front-facing camera (10MP + 8MP) sits above the foldable display when opened up. A Triple rear-camera display including a 16MP Ultra-wide, 12MP wide angle camera and a 12MP sensor with Telephoto lens.

If you’re interested in learning more you can of course pre-register for information on the Samsung website.
