What's on TV for 2020? Part 1

The LifeStyler has been on the prowl to discover what we will see on TV in 2020.

In this two part special, we will quickly summarise what shows will be available on free-to-air TV to compete with the multitude of streaming services. We will see at least three new streamers, including Disney, enter the market next year.

Observations so far are that there will not be a huge amount of change and sporting coverage continues to be key for ratings success.

Ch9 will see the continuation of Ninja Warrior, Doctor Doctor, Married at First Sight, Lego Masters, The Voice, Love Island, the Block and Travel Guides. We know there will be some new twists in Ninja Warrior and a special challenge show. The Block next year will be based on an empty plot of land!

Nine will be bringing out a new Halifax series known as Halifax Retribution where a sniper is causing havoc and a new Underbelly series presumably based on Lawyer X with the show titled Informer 3838. We will also see a new reality series The Parent Jury, variety show Step Back In Time, a medical program Emergency and Taronga: Who’s Who In The Zoo.

Ch10 will see the return of I’m a Celebrity, Survivor, Master Chef, The Masked Singer, Amazing Race, Dancing with the Stars, Bachelor/In Paradise/Bachelorette, Hughesy, Have You Been Paying Attention, Ambulance, Gogglebox, Body Hack, Taboo, One Born Every Minute, How To Stay Married, Playing For Keeps, Five Bedrooms, The Project, Celebrity Name Game and The Living Room.

Of these we will see new, younger and mostly unknown hosts for MasterChef, plus a standard and an all-star edition of Survivor. New shows will include, Drunk History (comedy) and The Secret She Keeps (drama). Overseas content includes FBI Most Wanted and The Gilded Age.
