Arlo announces completely wire-free floodlight camera

Putting up a camera, or floodlight around your house generally involves a bunch of wires. Arlo have today announced the new Arlo Pro 3 which does away with all the wiring, instead letting you power lights and camera from a battery.

The Arlo Pro 3 can record footage in glorious 2K resolution with HDR, with a 160-degree (diagonal) field-of-view, letting you capture almost anything in front of your camera in greater clarity, and with beautiful colours. The floodlight cam also includes colour or traditional black and white night-mode.

The wire-free camera can be mounted outside and comes with an integrated ball mount and ceiling adapter to let you position it and point it almost anywhere.

The floodlight can be activated manually or through a motion sensor and Arlo say that it has ‘superior brightness’.

The battery will last a while, though Arlo haven’t advised how long for exactly. You can use the ambient light sensor for the floodlight to control the intensity though which will preserve the product’s battery life says Arlo.

The Arlo Pro 3 includes two-way audio so you can speak to whoever (or whatever) is in the frame, but if you need to you can also activate a siren to alert anyone in the area to an incident.

The Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera comes with a complimentary three-month trial to Arlo’s AI subscription-based service, Arlo Smart, which gives you access to rolling 30-days of 2K cloud recordings to store and view video clips.

Bradley Little, Vice President of Sales APAC for Arlo said of the Arlo Pro 3

Arlo’s industry-leading technology is now packed into a wire free, sleek form factor allowing for seamless camera and floodlight integration. With this highly functional, yet minimalist design, users are able to reap the benefits of increased illumination, best-in-class camera performance and computer vision technology resulting in even more peace of mind – all without compromising their home exterior aesthetic.

Details of the Australian launch of the Arlo Wire-Free Floodlight Camera have yet to be officially confirmed, but those shouldn’t be too far away.
