Aspera Mobile has today announced the launch of their latest smartphone, the Aspera GEM, for $149.

The phone is a step-up for users wanting to leave their old flip phone behind for a smartphone full of features. The GEM offers a 4G phone with dual-SIM, fingerprint sensor and facial recognition and a nicely sized 5.45-inch HD+ resolution display.

Aspera Mobile MD Allan Robertson explained the new entry in the Aspera range, saying
We had our new Jazz 2 smartphone targeting the $99 entry-level 4G price point but could also see a gap at the $149 price point for a model that came with full Android 9 Pie and better specifications, so that’s where the new GEM came in.

Spec wise, the phone includes a fair bit for the $149 price tag including a Mediatek Quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage which can be expanded with a microSD Card. There’s an 8MP rear shooter on the rear near a fingerprint scanner, and a 5MP front camera for those all important selfies.

I think most people would agree they are an excellent set of features for just $149. As usual with Aspera phones we strived to offer the best value for money at the price point in terms of display size and resolution, memory, camera and processor.

The Aspera GEM is available now from BigW, Retravision, Leading Edge and BNE Express for $149. You can check out the GEM on the Aspera Mobile website.
