Lenovo launches Thinksmart View communications device powered by Microsoft Teams

At CES, Lenovo has unveiled the Thinksmart View, a more affordable entry in their business focused Thinksmart range of communications devices.

If the Thinksmart View looks familiar, you’re not wrong, with the body similar to that of the Google Assistant powered Lenovo Smart Displays. Lenovo has given the device a more business-like black paint job and more memory for the launch, but it still has the same 8” HD (1280×800) IPS touchscreen, 5MP video conferencing camera and microphone – both of which can be disabled with a hardware switch on the side – and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 624, Octa-Core processor.

Whereas their consumer focused Smart Displays are powered by Google Assistant, the ThinkSmart View is powered by Microsoft Teams, acting as a communications device offering audio and video calls in a business environment.

IT Departments will be able to deploy, manage, configure, update and resolve issues for their fleet of ThinkSmart View devices through Lenovos proprietary ThinkSmart Manager software. IT Managers will also be able to remotely change BIOS and supervisor passwords, and prevent access to the USB port.

The Thinksmart View will launch this month in the US where it will be priced at 9 USD (9USD with a ThinkPad X1 ANC Bluetooth Headset). Local pricing and availability will be announced nearer to the Australian launch.
