At CES Netgear has announced a new pair of routers with the 4G LTE Orbi Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi router and Wi-Fi 6 enables Nighthawk Mesh Wi-Fi system.

4G LTE Orbi Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi router
While the NBN continues it’s rollout across Australia, Netgear is aiming the Orbi Tri-Band Mesh router at those users who haven’t been able to access wired broadband, but instead rely on wireless broadband connections.

The 4G LTE Orbi Mesh Wi-Fi router is fast, with a Cat 18 4G LTE modem capable of download speeds up to 1.2 Gbps.

Netgear has included AC2200 Tri-Band Wi-Fi in the router which they say can blanket a home up to 185 square metres, however additional Orbi Satellites can be added to the mesh Wi-Fi system to expand coverage to more areas.

The router will be coming to Australia in Q2 2020 with pricing to be confirmed closer to launch.

Nighthawk Mesh Wi-Fi 6 system
For those who do have a terrestrial broadband system the Nighthawk Mesh Wi-Fi 6 system offers whole home coverage, providing users with a defined, fast and reliable connection.

The router supports dual-band WiFi 6 AX1800 with up to 1.8Gbps download speeds. Netgear says the router is able to offer coverage for homes up to 3,000 sq.ft in size, though this can be expanded with additional satellites for the mesh Wi-Fi system.

Netgear offers some wired options with their new mesh router system with two Gigabit Ethernet ports (one for the internet and the other for
the LAN) on the router, and a single 1 Gigabit Ethernet port on each satellite.

The Nighthawk Mesh Wi-Fi 6 system will be coming to Australia in Q1 2020 with pricing for both the router and satellites to be confirmed closer to launch.
