The push toward electric for Audi continues at strength with a new version of it’s EV e-tron shown in concept form ahead of a launch in 2021.

Perhaps to ensure that consumers know what’s coming and don’t commit to another EV prior, the new Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback has been announced as a concept.

Following on from the Q4 e-tron itself that took the stage at the Geneva Motor Show last year (remember when motor shows were a thing?) – this Sportback follows Audi’s push to speed up the styling of their cars with the Sportback offering.

So if you’re looking for an electric Q4 – now’s the time to think about the body styling, perhaps helping Audi work on their production mix for when the car hits the factory next year.

As a Sportback, the Q4 e-tron is just one centimetre longer and flatter than the standard Q4 – but it’s that swooping headline that really tips the favour toward Sportback.

With two electric motors on board, you’ve got 225kW of power and acceleration of 0-100 in 6.3.

Underneath is an 82kW hour battery with a range of 450km.

Rear-wheel drive options will have over 500km in range.

My favourite future idea and innovation from Audi on the Q4 e-tron? Personalised Daytime running light design.

Using the detailed matrix of LED lights, you can design your own style, so people know it’s you coming in the dark.

This is all part of the electrification of Audi – with more than 20 cars featuring all-electric drive options by 2025 making up 40% of Audi’s projected sales.

Audi may well be the first to have a full suite of body types electrified in showrooms – we watch with anticipation.
