Beats 1 launched in 2015 as the live broadcast music offering within the Music app on iPhones, iPads and Macs. Today, it’s been renamed Apple Music 1 with two new sister stations added.

Using a mix of DJ’s and top billing artists, these radio stations are hosted playlists of the best music of their genre.

Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music, Beats, and International Content says “For the past five years, if ever there was a meaningful moment in music culture, Beats 1 was there bringing human curation to the forefront and drawing in listeners with exclusive shows from some of the most innovative, respected, and beloved people in music,”

“Now, Apple Music radio provides an unparalleled global platform for artists across all genres to talk about, create, and share music with their fans, and this is just the beginning. We will continue to invest in live radio and create opportunities for listeners around the world to connect with the music they love.”

Apple Music 1 being the source for the latest greatest music, while the two new additions seem aimed at getting more people using the Apple Music app more often.

Apple Music Hits is the best songs of the 80’s, 90’s and the 2000’s.

On air hosts will include Estelle, Lowkey, Jenn Marino, Sabi and many more.

Additionally, there will be exclusive shows by some of music’s biggest names like Alanis Morissette, Huey Lewis, Ciara, the Backstreet Boys, Snoop Dogg and Shania Twain.

Then there’s Apple Music Country.

As the name says, this is all country – a huge genre of music worldwide, but particularly in America.

Again, big names hosting and big name shows.

Apple Music Radio is free to listen to, on all Apple devices, an Apple Music Subscription isn’t required, but you will need to log into your Apple ID account.
