Belkin has today announced their new range of GaN (Gallium Nitride) Boost Charge wall chargers are now available for purchase in Australia.

Using GaN (Gallium Nitride) allows Belkin to pack more punch into the compact chargers which come in 30W and 68W capacities. The chargers can charge laptops, smartphones and more including the new iPad Air announced last week.

GaN chargers are a relatively new technology which has been showing up more broadly since CES. Belkin has been refining the technology for retail launch here in Australia and around the world, including features such as built-in overcurrent and overvoltage protection, to keep both the charger and connected devices safe, while providing peace of mind.

Jamie Laing-Reece, Head of Product Management for Belkin ANZ said ‘We are keeping people powered throughout their day and making their lives easier with our innovation, and GaN technology is one of many ways we continue to bring this to life, especially as one of the first to offer this to Australian consumers.’

The two chargers, the BOOST CHARGE USB-C GaN Wall Charger 30W and BOOST CHARGE Dual USB-C GaN Wall Charger 68W, both support Power Delivery (PD). PD is an industry standard for charging technology that ensures those higher wattages won’t harm your devices.

Both chargers include fast charging support, with Belkin advising you can get up to a 50% charge on a MacBook Air in just 70 minutes using USB-C cable, or up to 50% charge on an iPhone 8 in 30 minutes using their lightning cable.

The BOOST CHARGE USB-C GaN Wall Charger 30W includes a single USB-C port. Meanwhile the BOOST CHARGE USB-C GaN Wall Charger 68W includes dual USB-C ports. Belkin has included an Intelligent Power Sharing on their 68W model which can sense when either port is in use. The charger can then split the power between both ports. For example you can get up to 60W of power from one port, or charge one device at up to 50W with one port and a smartphone at up to 18W with the other.

You can nab the new Belkin BOOST CHARGE wall chargers from Belkin.com/au, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and major retailers, across Australia and New Zealand. The 30W charger is priced at $64.95 ($74.95 NZD) while the 68W charger will cost $89.95 ($99.95 NZD).
