TCL might be a bit slow out of the box for 2021, but they’re sure not missing a beat when it comes to TV technology in the range they’ve announced today to hit stores in the month or few ahead.
The TCL TV range tops out with the mega 85 inch 8K Mini LED and while no price has been announced on that one, it’s a whole entertainment unit and TV in one, so it’s going to be one heck of a unit.
At 65 and 75 inches the Mini LED 8K range continues, with the TCL X925 series featuring Google TV for the first time on TCL.
All of TCL’s other models offer Android TV in wither QUHD, QLED or Mini LED variants as 4K screens.
Mark Zhang, Managing Director at TCL Electronics says “The new range of TCL TVs offers the next generation of gamers the fantastic Game Master experience that is second to none,”
“TCL has also become the Official TV Partner of Call of Duty worldwide, demonstrating our ability to bring the best gaming experiences to users all around the world.”
While Sony was first out of the box with Google TV, TCL is the only other manufacturer to release Google TV in 2021. Only select models in the 2021 range are Google TV, while TCL says “selected existing TCL TV models will also be making the upgrade to Google TV via software updates later this year”.
Of course, Mini LED is the real standout, TCL bringing 2021’s most advanced backlighting technology to some of their range. This is an “OLED like” lighting effect, and we can’t wait to see how it helps TCL challenge the contrast of OLED with an LCD screen.
Notably, for Gamers, the entire TCL 2021 TV range supports Variable Refresh Rate, with the Mini LED models offering that up to 120Hz.
The range starts at $899 with the P725 TV with Android TV, the QLED Android TV C725 starts at $1,099, the C825 Mini LED Android TV starts at $2,499 (55 inch), and the 65 inch Mini LED 8K TCL X925 is $4,499
Models arrive in retail stores in June and July this year.
