Moto G50 5G

While their X and Z series have fallen by the wayside, the moto G series has been a lynchpin of the Motorola smartphone family since its launch in 2013. The all new Moto G50 5G is their latest offering bringing 5G speeds for just $399.

The moto G50 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 with 4GB RAM, 128GB on-board storage (with microSD card slot) and 6.5″ Max Vision IPS display with HD+ (1600×720) resolution that includes a 90Hz refresh rate, all powered by a massive 5,000mAh battery.

Motorola has included a triple rear camera array with a 48MP main sensor with 1.6UM quad pixel for excellent low light shots, as well as a macro vision sensor and depth sensor. On the front you’ll get a 13MP sensor in a tear drop notch in the  centre of the display.

Motorola are launching the phone in Meteorite Grey, and it includes a 3.5mm headphone jack.

You can find the moto g50 5G on-sale for $399, available from this Thursday the 26th of August 2021 at JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Big W, Mobiliciti, Motorola & Lenovo Online. Motorola have also advised you’ll be able to get the Moto G50 5G from Vodafone by the end of September.

Motorola Edge 20 series

The new Motorola Edge 20 series is launching this week with three new models in Australia. The phones share key features including a 108MP main camera and a large 6.7-inch OLED display, and offer users the chance to access super-fast 5G speeds at a variety of price points.

The new Edge series has some new features, at least for Motorola, with Dual Capture letting you capture footage from both the front and rear cameras. There’s improved audio capture on the edge 20 pro and edge 20 with Audio Zoom letting you intelligently capture sound while filtering out ambient noise so you can hear what people are saying.

There’s some great features in this new family, including AI for the front-facing camera and big screens and camera sensors. So what’s on offer?

Motorola Edge 20 Pro

The headliner for the new Motorola Edge series is the Edge 20 Pro featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor with 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM, as well as 256GB built-in UFS 3.1 storage. Motorola is also including a large 4500mAh to power the phone with 30W TurboPower charging included to top you up fast when you need it.

A feature that Motorola are highlighting on the Motorola Edge 20 Pro is the 6.7″ Max Vision FHD+ (2400 x 1080) resolution OLED display which should look great with 10-bit colour and DCI-P3 colour space. Motorola is also getting in on the gaming vibe with a super-fast 144Hz refresh rate that has up to 480Hz touch latency.

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro includes the same 108MP main sensor used across the range, which uses a large 1/1.5” sensor to capture more light, improving low-light images but it’s the only one offering 8K Video capture (24fps). The phone also features Motorola’s first ever periscope-style telephoto lens with a 5x telephoto on the 8MP second sensor, while a third 16MP sensor offers ultra-wide and macro options.

The front-facing 32MP camera also includes AI to improve low-light captures to make sure you’re looking your best on the night.

The phone will launch in two options, Midnight Sky, Indigo Vegan Leather, though the Vegan Leather option is extremely limited edition.

You can get your hands on the Motorola Edge 20 Pro for $899 from September 2021  at JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Mobileciti, Motorola & Lenovo Online.

Motorola Edge 20

For those wanting something svelte to slide into their pocket or bag, the Motorola Edge 20 is the thinnest in the range with a 6.99mm thin profile.

Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor with 8GB RAM, 128 GB and powered by a 4000 mAh battery which promises all day battery power, with 30W TurboCharging to top it up giving you 8 hours of power in just 10 minutes.

The Motorola Edge 20 also has a 6.7” FHD+ (2400 x 1080) resolution OLED display with 144Hz refresh rate as the Pro model, making it a great choice for any potential mobile gamers.

You also still have the 108MP main sensor on the rear of the phone, with a 8MP 3X Telephoto (OIS) and 16MP Ultra-wide angle completing the trio of cameras on the back and 32MP selfie camera on the front.

The Motorola edge 20 is launching in Frosted Onyx from September, where you’ll be able to buy it from JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, Mobiliciti, Motorola & Lenovo Online.

Motorola Edge 20 Fusion

Lastly the Motorola edge 20 fusion is the budget model in the Edge 20 family offering big features, fast speeds but a lower price with the edge 20 fusion set to hit stores for $499.

The phone has the same 6.7” FHD+ (2400 x 1080) resolution OLED display as the rest of the family, though it drops to a still impressive 90Hz refresh rate. Motorola has saved pennies here and there, using a lower-power Mediatek Dimensity processor, though you still get 8GB RAM and 128GB of on-board storage with a microSD card to back it up.

You also get the largest battery in the range with a 5,000mAh battery with support for 30W TurboCharging.

Impressively you still get the large 108MP main sensor on the Motorola edge 20 fusion however you drop to an 8MP Ultra-wide angle sensor and Motorola has also replaced the telephoto option with a 2MP depth sensor.

The phone comes in two colour options, Electric Graphite and Cyber Teal and you also get a 3.5mm headset jack, the only model in the Edge range to have one.

The Motorola edge 20 fusion will launch first here, with the phone hitting JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, Big W (Online), Mobiliciti, Motorola & Lenovo Online this week on August 26th. You’ll also be able to pick it up from Vodafone by the end of September.
