HMD Global has been consistently launching affordable, decent Android smartphones since they took the reins of Nokia. Now they are not just launching their newest and most affordable 5G smartphone but are also branching out into tablets with the new T20.
The world has seen a big shift in our use of technology in the past two years and with an increase in demand and use of video calling platforms and streaming services there has been an increase in demand for tablets — a 12% increase in 2020 on the previous year. Capitalising on that HMD Global has introduced the T20 tablet, a versatile tablet that is suited for the needs that Australians have become used to.
The centrepiece of the Nokia T20 tablet is the large 10.4-inch QHD (1440P or 2K) display allowing for up to seven hours of media streaming or video conference calling. The display is backed by stereo speakers and in-built dual microphones to help make those video calls crystal clear on the other end.
The Android-powered tablet is also designed for families with access to Google Kids Space to help kids to search and explore topics and interests they enjoy. The Google Kids Space is added to the child’s Google account and allows parents to manage access using Family Link parental controls.
The Nokia T20 comes with a three-year warranty along with three years of monthly security updates and two years of OS upgrades. The Nokia T20 in Ocean Blue (4GB/64GB variant) will be on sale for $349 RRP from October 7 over at https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_au/nokia-t-20 .
Long gone are the times where the addition of 5G to a smartphone made it a premium-priced smartphone. Now we are seeing it arrive in some extremely affordable smartphones, of which the Nokia G50 is a prime example.
The Nokia G50 is the latest addition to their G series of phones and although it is affordable it is still no slouch. Sporting a 6.82-inch HD+ display it is built to last with a three-year warranty along with the usual three years of security updates and two years of OS version updates from HMD Global. The camera promises to be no slouch either with a main 48MP lens combined with a 5MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP depth lens — and an 8MP selfie camera.
Even with such a large display the smartphone will last for two full days on a single charge — and of course 5G support is included in that battery life. HMD Global state it will launch with Google’s latest and greatest, Android 11 with Android 12 promised for not long after release.
