As we enter December, It’s hard to believe another year is drawing to a close. That of course means it’s time to reflect on the past year, and Spotify is ready to deliver their Wrapped 2021 roundup of the year as we listened to it.

If you’re new to Spotify, Wrapped is a personalised summary of listening habits offered to users exclusively in the iOS and Android apps.

If you don’t have your personalised Spotify Wrapped summary, there’s some interesting stats from Spotify on what we all listened to this year.

In Australia, Taylor Swift topped the charts as the most streamed artist, with Glass Animal’s ‘Heat Waves’ taking the top spot as the most streamed track.

Local artist the Kid LAROI managed to hit the global lists for streaming, as well as topping the list of most streamed local artist, with his album F*CK LOVE (SAVAGE) the third most streamed album by Aussies.  The most streamed album was Sour by Olivia Rodrigo, with Ed Sheeran’s album ‘=’ coming in second.

Olivia Rodrigo saw further success nabbing the title of the most streamed song of 2021 with more than 1.1 billion streams of ‘drivers license’. The title of most streamed artist though went to Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny with more than 9.1 billion streams – but Taytay (I hate myself now) came in second, with BTS in the third spot, Drake in #4 and Justin Bieber at #5.

Spotify has also been a player in the podcasting space for some time, so we get some interesting stats on that front too.

Topping the list both globally and in Australia is of course The Joe Rogan Experience podcast which Spotify famously courted and nabbed exclusively for their service.

For those wanting something more than chats on DMT, MMA, Elk Hunting and more, the next top podcasts in Australia were the ABC News Briefing and Casefile True Crime

Globally, Call Her Daddy and Crime Junkie came in at second and third, with TED Talks Daily and The Daily nabbing the fourth and fifth spots.
