The next generation of smartwatches running Google’s Wear OS 3 has begun launching, with the almost full year of exclusivity enjoyed by Samsung’s Galaxy Watch range now over. The first watch to appear is the premium Summit 3 from high-end watch and accessory maker Mont Blanc is now available in Australia.

Priced at $2,030, the Mont Blanc Summit 3 is available in three options: Titanium, Black Titanium and a Bi-Colour Titanium. Each of the watches is available with a calf leather strap, though an option to add a nylon strap is available at checkout in a range of colours for an additional $200 each.

The 42mm Titanium case is water resistant to 5ATM and has a rotating crown in the middle for scrolling through your app list or messages, and also includes buttons either side for accessing recent apps, or fitness tracking, with some customisation included.

In terms of hardware inside the watch, the Mont Blanc Summit 3 runs the slightly older Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor, and comes with a 1.28″ full-circle AMOLED display with 1GB of memory and 8 GB of storage. The Summit 3 includes a range of sensors and features including Heart rate sensor, Gyroscope, Barometer, Accelerometer and Ambient Light sensor, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC also on-board.

Of course the star of the show is the newly updated Wear OS 3.0, which is now controlled by the Mont Blanc Summit app available through Google Play and the Apple app store. The app will let you customise your device, including adding in new watch faces and more.

You can check out the Mont Blanc Summit 3 on their Australian website, and don’t worry, if you do decide to order one you can get free shipping Australia wide for orders over $50.
