HMD Global has announced their latest G-series handset with the repairable Nokia G42 with 5G launching next month in Australia.

Priced at $449, the Nokia G42 builds on HMD Global’s focus on producing affordable, durable and repairable handsets which began with the Nokia G22 announced earlier this year. The Nokia G42 will be supported by their partnership with iFixit, offering parts and  step-by-step repair guides to help you fix your phone if an accident happens.

Parts for the G42 can be purchased from iFixit, with just $42.99 for things like a charging port, $89.99 for a display or just $49.99 to replace the battery if it ever needs it.

The Nokia G42 will be their first repairable 5G handset with the phone including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ 5G SoC, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of on-board storage. A 6.56” HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate is on the front and a 5,000mAh battery capable of 3-day battery life is also included.

Of course there’s a big camera system included with an AI enabled 50MP main sensor on the rear, with supporting 2MP depth and 2MP Macro lenses adding in an excellent Portrait Mode, as well as Night Mode to help snap high quality shots after dark. There’s also an 8MP selfie camera on the front for snapping you at your best.

There’s Android 13 on board with three years of monthly security updates and at least two OS updates.

Brenden Folitarik, HMD Global’s Country Manager for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands:
