When Peloton brought “Lanebreak” to the Peloton Bike the idea was to bring a new way of getting the same result because let’s be honest doing the “same” thing day after day can be tiring. This week, the gamified and music inspired Lanebreak comes to Peloton Tread.

I’ve been using the Peloton Tread for a couple of months, and while I’ve loved getting into sessions with Peloton coaches, sometimes I spend more time looking for a session when in fact all I really need to do is get on and walk.

Enter Lanebreak – one of the “More Runs” options on the Peloton Tread. Nothing new to do to get it, it’s just there for you now.

In the same spirit of all the Peloton sessions you have available, there’s warm ups, cool downs and sessions themselves.

Lanebreak brings music to the Tread as your coach – instead of there being tracks pumping your coach along, the music is the beat to which you walk.

The Lane in Lanebreak refers to the “lane on the track” across which you need to move. With the Bike you moved the resistance dial left and right to change lanes, with Peloton Tread you use the incline dial.

Now it takes a bit of getting used to, because you’re wanting the lane to move left and right, but you’re moving the dial back and forward. Once you get it you get it.

The incline itself during Lanebreak can be set to auto so you can still get the workout of a hill within the Lanebreak experience.

Speed is important too, with challenges within the session to get you moving.

And it’s all about the music.

Peloton offers Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Rock, Metal, Country and more. For my liking, I’d love to see more hits, more well known tracks, but I guess they have to change them over time to keep it fresh. I’m a bit boring in my taste, or perhaps narrow is a better way of putting it. If I could have LIVE and Hootie and the Blowfish as options I’d be on it daily. Fortunately there’s a nice Simply Red cool-down, so even if I choose a 20 min session with Jon then cool down with Simply Red, Lanebreak doesn’t need to be your whole workout – it might be your warm up or cool down only.

Bottom line, it’s more content, more engagement for your Peloton investment.

Available now to all Peloton Tread users.
