In recent years Google has gotten out ahead of the leakers and revealed their upcoming Pixel smartphones. This year is no different and today they have shown off three of their upcoming devices, and then Tweeted (Xed?) about it just to make sure everyone knew it was there.
The first tweet fired off by the MadeByGoogle Twitter account showed us four devices that are rumoured to show up at the MadeByGoogle event on October 4 (12am October 5 AEST). Check them out below:
In the video we can see a watch, an earbud and a smartphone. Rumours have suggested a new Pixel Watch and a next generation Pixel Buds to arrive alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro and this video seems to suggest that will be the case.
The second tweet from Google shows off the new curves and camera windows of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. With more rounded corners than the previous generations the Pixel 8 smartphones look to be a more comfortable design.
Follow the links and you’ll end up over on the Google Store landing page for the upcoming Pixel devices and for those still sceptical, Google tell you to subscribe for the latest information “including more about Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and the Google Pixel Watch 2.”
Interestingly the Pixel Buds are not mentioned but their relevance is likely less than the big ticket items of those three listed hence the omission.
Keep an eye out for more Pixel leaks in the coming couple of weeks but even if you miss them, all will be revealed soon, on October 5 (Melbourne time). Stay tuned to EFTM for more as it arrives.
**Update: It appears Google has shown off the Pixel Watch 2 in a Sneak Peak over on YouTube. The design appears to be similar to the original Pixel Watch with the same band connectors as the original and scrolling digital crown. The very, quick glimpse you see of the rear does indicate a new sensor array, so we may see some additional interactions. o be though rumours suggest the new Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC and a slightly larger battery will mean better power efficiency. We’ll hopefully see more over the next couple of weeks, but check it out.
