GoPro has today launched their latest active camera, the HERO12 Black, bringing with it improved battery life along with some impressive new features.

The new HERO12 Black has an improved power management system to deliver 70 minutes of continuous recording at 5.3K60 and over 155 minutes at 1080p30, both with their HyperSmooth 6.0 video stabilisation on.

Their highest video setting is a market-leading 5.3K which equates to 91% more resolution than 4K and a massive 665% more than 1080p. When using 2.7K recording the camera is able to produce 8x slo-mo, or grab up to 24.7MP frame grabs and 27MP photos.

The new Max Lens Mod 2.0 Accessory for the HERO12 Black is also able to capture a 36% wider field of view when capturing widescreen video. The lens is also more durable with it being 2x more scratch resistant and coated with a durable hydrophobic lens to wick any water drops away.

The HERO12 Black now supports wireless Bluetooth audio for Apple AirPods and other Bluetooth devices allowing you to record audio straight to the HERO12 Black from your Bluetooth device/microphone/earbuds.

Other new features include a 360 degree Horizon lock, simplified camera controls and night effects with still images while still incorporating the usual rugged, versatile and reliable design we expect from GoPro.

GoPro is also launching a new extension pole with waterproof shutter remote in October.

The HERO12 Black ($649.95 AU) and Max Lens Mod 2.0 ( $169.95 AUD or $135.95 AUD for GoPro subscribers) are available for preorder on GoPro.com starting today. Both products will be available in stores globally on September 13, along with HERO12 Black Creator Edition for $949.95 AUD. You can learn more at GoPro.com.
