Netgear has today announced the world’s first Wi-Fi 6E unlocked 5G mobile hotspot complete with 5G mmWave technology, the Nighthawk M6 Pro.

Supporting speeds of up to 8 Gbps, the M6 Pro joins the previously announced M6 in Netgear’s latest mobile hotspot portfolio. The Pro version adds the support for 5G mmWave allowing these increased speed capabilities.

The 5G mmWave capabilities allow the device to provide extreme capacity with high throughput and ultra-low latency. This functionality makes the new M6 Pro perfect for UHD livestreams, Zoom meetings, online gaming and more.

The private Wi-Fi 6E connection is complete with a built-in firewall for up to 32 devices anywhere where there is cellular coverage. The M6 Pro includes an In-Home Performance Mode that, when plugged in, allows the device to provide multi-gig Internet and boost Wi-Fi coverage to 90 square metres.

In areas where the cellular coverage is sketchy an external antenna (sold separately) can be used to boost 5G reception while the device is charged using the USB-C port which also doubles as an ultra-fast wired connection of up to 5 Gbps to a computer or laptop.

The M6 Pro includes a battery life of up to 13 hours of use on a single charge and will work unlocked on all major 5G wireless carriers in Australia and New Zealand — simply insert your 5G/4G SIM card.

The Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro Mobile Router (MR6550) is available now in Australia and New Zealand on for MSRP: $1299.
