Just over a year after they launched it in the US, Google have finally brought their next-gen Nest Wifi Pro to Australia.

The Nest Wifi Pro includes Wifi 6 and 6E support with tri-band – 6GHz, 5Ghz and 2.4GHz – support offering wider bandwidth and up to 4.2 Gbps of speed. The Nest Wifi Pro is available as a single router for $349 which Google says will cover a 120m2 area or in a three-pack for $699 which will cover up to 320m2.

The new Nest Wifi Pro has a new look from the previous Nest Wifi which launched all the way back in 2019. The new shell has a high gloss finish which Google said at launch was ‘inspired by ceramics’. While the US has a choice of four colours, the Nest Wifi Pro is only available in a single colour in Australia, Snow, but classic white always looks good.

The router includes all the features you want including guest network and family controls, with the router managed in the Google Home app on Android and iOS

The recent launch of the Matter smart home protocol has seen Google expanding their Thread support across devices and the Nest Wifi Pro includes a Thread border router, allowing you to easily connect Thread-enabled devices and use them with platforms including Apple, Amazon and Google.

Price wise, it’s a pretty good deal for a Wifi 6E compatible, ri-band mesh system at $699, or even just getting the single access point in for $349 is a good way to give your devices a boost if they support Wifi 6 or Wifi 6E.

You can purchase the Nest Wifi Pro through the Google Store, or from Harvey Norman, JB Hifi and Office Works.
