Acer has announced a new 17-inch Nitro laptop, the refresh of two Predator Helios gaming laptops and two new Helios gaming laptops at CES 2024.
The new Acer Nitro 17 (AN17-72) is powered by up to an Intel Core i7 14th gen processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 laptop GPU offering a powerful gaming laptop in a “budget-friendly” price range. The laptop GPU is able to deliver graphics with AI-enhanced DLSS 3.5 technology and full ray tracing.
The Nitro 17 supports up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB SSD storage. The display is a 17.3-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 165Hz refresh rate and a 3ms overdrive response time. Cooling-wise it uses a “streamlined thermal design” with the integration of dual fan quad intake and quad exhaust systems, vector heat pipes and liquid metal thermal grease so you can be sure it won’t over heat on those graphics-heavy games.
For connectivity, the Nitro 17 includes two Type C USB with Thunderbolt 4, a HDMI 2.1 port, and a Micro SD card reader. It also arrives with Killer DoubleShot Pro Ethernet E3100G and Wi-Fi 6E compatibility.
At this stage Australian availability and pricing is unknown.
Acer has announced the refresh of the Predator Helios 18 (PH18-72) and the Predator Helios 16 (PH16-72) laptops, with both receiving Intel Core 14th gen processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series Laptop GPUs with DLSS 3.5 technology and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus. The laptop GPUs include specialised AI Tensor cores for improved AI performance and accelerations.
The laptops now include Microsoft’s Copilot in Windows 11 and are two of the first laptops to include the new Copilot key for quick access to AI-powered task assistance. Standard displays are 250Hz WQXGA panels but there is also the option for MiniLED displays and MagKey 3.0 swappable mechanical switches for shorter key travel and response time.
“The new Acer Predator Helios is a beautiful laptop that truly unleashes the performance of our new Intel Core (14th Gen) HX-Series processors,” says Roger Chandler, VP & GM Enthusiast PC & Workstation at Intel. “Acer’s advanced cooling technologies keep our processors cool and running fast, combined with a great selection of display, memory, and storage options that make the Predator Helios 16 and 18 a great choice for gamers and creators.”
Alongside the refresh, Acer also announced the all-new Predator Helios Neo 18 (PHN18-71) and Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-72), two Core i9 powered laptops with support for up to RTX 4070 laptop GPUs. With WQXGA (2560 x 1600) IPS displays with 240Hz refresh rates and 3ms response times, the displays offer a great gaming experience.
